Back to work means back to Škoda Design studio. What an amazing place to work and what an inspiring team of creatives. Located in Mladá Boleslav, directly near the factory where the history of one of the oldest car manufacturers is being written.
Spending time in the glassworks makes me just forget all the challenges that the exact world of car design brings and just create. Here in Ajeto glassworks by Lasvit.
Kodiaq launch brought me to Palma, Mallorca’s capital where we had couple of press events and meetings. Very great experience on my last day was to visit Michelin-starred chef Marcel Ress in his kitchen in central Palma and watch him creating the meal for just the two of us… Driving the Kodiaq for the first time and on the curvy Mallorca’s roads was another highlight.
2017 Tour de France trophies will once again be created in the glass workshops at Lasvit and bear the signature look of the ŠKODA design department. The form of the trophy itself remains unchanged in comparison to previous years, but features creative ideas drawn from the concept of Mladá Boleslav’s first electric vehicle, VISON E, which was introduced mid-April at the Shangai Auto Show. Its dynamic lines have been reflected in this year’s trophies which embodies the modern form of Czech Crystal.
There is so much inspiration in the history of Škoda brand that is one of the oldest car manufacturers in the world. Here I had a chance to visit the Škoda museum in Mladá Boleslav and walk with journalists through the collection of all important cars for the brand and have a detailed look on them.
I am very happy to be part of this story and had a chance to spend time in Škoda Museum and learn about the history of bike production by Laurin & Klement. I’m pleased Czech crystal has become an integral part of the famous Tour de France. Designing trophies for each subsequent year is always a new challenge for us. This year we took our inspiration from the very spirit of Tour de France, the moment when racers compete in the peloton wheel-to-wheel. The rotating décor of the trophy is a direct reflection of the spinning wheels of the best-of-the-best. This is the sixth year we have designed the trophies that serve as an emblem of what Tour de France stands for: cycling, hard work and the taste of victory.
Geneva Motor Show 2016 – here we go! Skoda presented the VisionS design study and thereby its new design style that underlines the brand’s emotive strength. The VisionS is designed in an expressive, attractive and dynamic way. The design has a balance – typical for Skoda – of rationality and aesthetics. The lines of the Skoda VisionS have evidently been inspired by the tradition of Bohemian crystal glass art and a touch of cubism: all sections are precise, sharp and clean-cut. On the strikingly contoured surfaces, the distinctive play of light and shade creates strong effects that are emphasised even further by the colour Iceland Green.
